When God asks us to plant a seed, the seed goes beyond the tithe, and when God asks us to plant a seed into the kingdom of God, He always has our future in mind in relationship to our needs being met. Any time the children of Israel really forgot who God was they would quit giving, then when they would turn back to God and remember who He really is they would again start giving. For example they got excited about building the temple after they got out of captivity. They laid the foundation and then forgot about it for 16 years because they began to withhold in relation to what God had instructed them to build and do. Over a period of time things went ill for them. Then the prophets Haggai, Zechariah, and Habakkuk came along and encouraged them to once again give and then the favor and blessings would come again. For us to begin to flow in the blessings of God in relation to finances there are some principles we should know. God doesn’t just bless us in dollars and cents, he is bigger than that. He could bless you with wisdom to run your business. He could bless you with promotion in your profession, or divinely inspired ideas that are to be acted upon to bring finances into your hands. Proverbs 10:4 (King James Version) 4He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. We must become convinced that God is our source. It is His will for us. Philippians 4:19 (King James Version) 19But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Through Jesus all of our needs are met. We must keep our priorities right. We can give just to get and that is wrong. It’s a wrong attitude, motive and priority. Our giving must emanate out of a heart of love and devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 6:33 (King James Version) 33But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. We must know that once a seed is planted there is always going to be a harvest. Somewhere in our mind and in processing the plan and purpose of God we must understand that when we plant a seed into the kingdom of God that He always has our future in mind. Luke 6:38 (King James Version) 38Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
