Grace vs. Works

Pastor Charles Mendenhall Our Father God so loved us that He gave His perfect gift to us: Jesus Christ and we celebrate His birth. Thanking God that He sent Jesus and Jesus was obedient. Why did Jesus come to earth and what was God's plan in sending Him? John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." KJV John 1:15 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace 17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ." KJV Eph 2:5-10 "5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." KJV. What is grace, the bible kind of grace? The unmerited favor of God is only a part of grace. Grace is always God moving toward man, faith is always man moving toward God. Grace is the plan of God, but believers are always trying to do things just right in order for God to move on their behalf, thus getting into works, which is not God's plan.. 1 Cor 15:56" The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law." KJV The law of Moses was totally based on works. We are not saved by works, but by grace. Works was the weakness of the law. When believers get under the law, it gives strength or empowers sin to lord over us. When this happens, believers feel they can never do things right and there is a constant struggle to please. Grace is the ability of God moving towards man. Grace is the answer to every need that a man or woman might have.

What is Your Motivational Gift?

Tuesday Dec 14, 2010
Pastor Charles Mendenhall This should give us better understanding of our selves and people around us. The ministry gifts in Ephesians, and the motivational gifts are in the book of Romans . There are seven of them. What motivates you to serve? You will discover your motivational gift flow out of you in the way you serve in the body of Christ. 1 Peter 4:8-11 (Amplified Bible) 8Above all things have intense and unfailing love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins [forgives and disregards the offenses of others]. 9Practice hospitality to one another (those of the household of faith). [Be hospitable, be a lover of strangers, with brotherly affection for the unknown guests, the foreigners, the poor, and all others who come your way who are of Christ's body.] And [in each instance] do it ungrudgingly (cordially and graciously, without complaining but as representing Him). 10As each of you has received a gift (a particular spiritual talent, a gracious divine endowment), employ it for one another as [befits] good trustees of God's many-sided grace [faithful stewards of the extremely diverse powers and gifts granted to Christians by unmerited favor]. 11Whoever speaks, [let him do it as one who utters] oracles of God; whoever renders service, [let him do it] as with the strength which God furnishes abundantly, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ (the Messiah). To Him be the glory and dominion forever and ever (through endless ages). Amen (so be it).

Thanksgiving – Being Thankful Having a Grateful Heart Worshiping the Lord Pastor Charles Mendenhall We cannot forget all that God has done for us and traditionally that is what we do this time of year, but we must develop a grateful heart year round. Psalm 150:6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
We are to honor the Lord with praise and worship. Honor Him with the sacrifice of praise, and giving Him honor and glory. Pastor repeated twice and remind,
“Prayer without thanksgiving or praise or a grateful heart is nothing more than the whine of a beggar.”

Communion: Foundation Of A New Beginning
Wednesday Nov 17, 2010
Wednesday Nov 17, 2010
The beginning of Passover or Communion, when it began and why. Don't let the communion service become so familiar that you forget what God is wanting to do for us and it means nothing to us. 1 Cor 11:26 "What you must solemnly realize is that every time you eat this bread and every time you drink this cup, you reenact in your words and actions the death of the Master. You will be drawn back to this meal again and again until the Master returns. You must never let familiarity breed contempt." Message
